The Sniper series by CI Games has a tantalizing story, which directly interwoven with developer, and it still applies. Few days ago, I decided to give the second look to two of its games. I had an interaction with the first, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, through demo and one attempted playthrough and I didn't believe in worthiness of the second, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, by watching some gameplay video and return again some time later. Their screenplays weren't wonderfully elaborated after reading. I put aside these factors with hoping that gameplay of both is playable and I am fascinated by one of the settings for which I wanted to complete that exact electronic composition. I chose the last difficulty level that minimizes casual and claims on having of real sniping experience.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 was a first game in which began to use CryEngine, but it also depended on version and how to use it. Playing this electronic composition reminded why I didn’t like it and there I noticed another shortcomings.
That was 2013, in which the Polish studio released a couple of games. It was still City Interactive in the soul, even though the studio changed on CI Games de jure in that year.
The wind changes drastically. Physics of shooting hesitates. It shoots absolute opposite every time. You have shaking even you take the deep breath.
The shooting from a sniper rifle has some strange algorithm. The bullets hit the metal in a balcony three times instead of a target despite I significantly changed angles. If any realism in weaponry - it is usually killing with a pistol, which advanced than in madly lovable Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 1-2 where isn't perfect, but leans to credibility.
No authenticity in slaying. A rifle's slug got into-or should- into the enemy, but it doesn’t count. Sometimes tangos don’t react in getting wound. Once I had a situation that a foe from a bad position could turn and shoot despite I pressed trigger first, but that didn't count. It couldn't be earnest electronic composition if adversaries do big jumping from a shot, which occasional part of funny physics.
That game hasn't a proper stealth. You can be seen hidden and the night doesn't influence on visions of hostiles. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 was released ten years after Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell that made a revolution, included hiding in shadows and behind the light.
It is broken itself when already in a first mission a spotter doesn’t move or doesn’t say what to do - you forced to act on your own. Once was that hero late with saying.
There was a mission in which you can choose a position - it decides developer's directing. I recalled my previous attempted walkthrough there. A texture of wood enters into a scope depriving a clear vision. It forced to relaunch and play the little piece of level again for hope to get a better perspective, which isn't better. That level was disastrous. It begins with showing dozens of mercenaries everywhere and all of them disappear then. You must find and eliminate the only presenting targets that evince after another order. It is hard to find them - you're forced to listen why you still didn't kill them. You can't do it instantly after hearing that tangos "above the ground" while that is opposite.
The studio from Warsaw did brilliant with showing a Muscovian mentality, but hear the same dialog thrice in one mission (and once more in the next level) shows it was done by City Interactive.
I finished earlier than a previous time. The Yugoslav Wars setting was authentic but when I watched some video it contained a fountain with modern nude women and an advertisement column with English writing ("Welcome to Sarajevo" and "beach party") that couldn't be in early nineties. I saw an episode where one character gets wounded by sniper after moving out from the angle, he instantly calls his position and stand on his leg after a foe was slayed.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3
The sequel, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, was released in 2017. Three years after the last electronic composition from CI Games. The studio took the highest scale by realizing an open-world game, though they did regions, which the hero visits, completes missions and moves to the next one. I was impressed when it was presented at first time in that you climb through the building and jump, but it was all.
I adore when you have legs in playing from a first person view. Driving of a car is ideal. Shooting from the sniper rifle became realistic, but not much influence of the wind-you usually do a straight shot into body. Anyway, the game was too much casual for the last level of difficulty. You see many indicators in enemies that you slayed. Hard difficulty doesn’t influence on realism. If you make a close attack and have a raised alarm, hostiles come from behind while shouldn't. An enemy can shoot into you watching and holding his gun in different direction. They can see you when you're behind them even everything is calm for them. A foe doesn't say a word if detected you - the alarm works in arcade way. An adversary makes a chaotic running in which he detects you without reason. They don’t run after you did a straight escaping from them and hid behind a tree. But when you return, they already raise the attention after they forgot about you.
Shooting wasn't so much beautiful. I had a bad rifle that doesn’t make a slaying of two men from a close distance, as I tried it twice, but capable to implement from far. Targets in these high raised situation can run impossible fast. Foes see you from the unrealistic far distance. You can be detected from nowhere even taking a hidden position. Be a good sniper is dangerous in this game.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a broken game. Sometimes bullets don’t bother enemy’s body. A cure button usually doesn't activate at a first pressing. It happens often that you do not find a weapon from a dead tango. The committed autosave doesn't activate that stage of a mission - you start from the beginning. It was a moment that I shot first and explosion waved from a barrel reached me despite I stayed behind the cover. I could pleasure only from a Georgian music time by time. It was a short visit. After I reminded that the script relates to primetime TV long series-as you have in the beginning when you use an explosive bullet to fall a tree-I didn't want to linger there.
