Meeting the New Year has something magical. You go to sleep in one reality and wake up in other if you couldn’t or didn’t want to wait until twelve o’clock midnight. Another world and big hopes that you come into something new.
The last day of the year planned to be celebrated with two bottles of wines. The first was opened at lunch, as accordingly all gentlemen begin. I could find another drink from Greece. It calls Cuvee III, which from 2022, has fourteen degrees and it contains two local grapes: 40% of Mavrodaphne, 20% of Agiorgitiko, and a well-known France-originated Cabernet Sauvignon in 40%.
The wine has an imposing dark red color. Its scent is a combination of seriousness and maturity of grapes. A beverage drinks easily without disturbance in any way you want to have it. No viscosity, as that can seem from far away. The aftertaste is plainly normal. A good wine, but full disclosure gives a taste of rose, which you will have on all stages eventually. I sensed it in the smell after all, it was in drinking and the later aftertaste was experiencing that. The wine would be impeccable well without that. It is just good.
After this beverage, I continue to look forward to Greek wines, which aren’t phenomenal but pleasing. But better drink it without long waiting because Cuvee III Red tastes acid after I had the third glass around 5:30 pm. This drink normalizes when I tasted in somewhere 8:00 pm.
A New Year meal was with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from winemaker Rieccolo. A noticeable of this drink is that, as a bottle informs, its grape Montepulciano from Abruzzo. It produces since the end of XVIIIth century and these wines usually contain 85% of this grape, while the rest are non-aromatic, but Sangiovese can be permitted. I had a pure Montepulciano of 2020 harvest with thirteen degrees. A first smell had grapes, which “better use before” was long time ago. A definitive transformation is characterless, which akin to smell of water. An initial sip will getting of a piece of fizzing. Getting of chance for breath in will turn on of having that unpleasant entirely, which will with acidity in that reaching of full evolution. The aftertaste is quiet though a little of acidity keeps on you for small time. I had glasses of the Greek wine then, which looked better, but it’s finest hour has gone by becoming an ordinary beverage.
It turned out into a story of how Bushmills saved the New Year.
(For absolute understanding of the next paragraph, it is required to read in a Barry White accent.)
When I saw you again, the whole world narrowed, leaving only the space between you and me. We didn’t meet for long, Bushmills Black Bush, but that fire never extinguished. I’m already felt it. The moment my lips touched your glass neck, you poured joy into me.
From a strong effect of whiskey, it becomes a venerable drink in sniffing process. Harsh and striking your organism in using is a lovable combination here in this drink with a classic forty degrees. The aftertaste is given blessing of lightness. Happy New Year!
