Fortress

I dared to watch one of new films with Bruce Willis. It was disastrous experience as I wished, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world had a place with me as it could be a marriage.

Bruce radiates in acting apathy. His method of saying of sentences laughs me. I couldn’t ease myself in his pronunciation of “relax”. His texts aren’t long and often Bruce speaks in shorts. Most time of not so rare his appearance is sitting on something. By that he could make a collaborative film with other grandmaster Steven Seagal. Bruce is the youngest among old people in that “retirement house” and looks odd among them, but these men and women advanced him in vigor. Nevertheless, he makes stand ups for saggy fashion parade with a pistol. Once he impresses in situation when bandit stays back to him and Bruce makes a shot through wire cage to forehead. Grandiose!

Perhaps, his expressed indifference is part of his character who never had care to his son played by Jesse Metcalfe. Between both of them has a hilarious chemistry by their careless acting. Family ties expresses after shootout where Bruce asks in his monotone “You okay, Paul?” on what he gets a calm positive answer, which Willis’s character accepts without interest and says “Yeah, I can see that.”

A scriptwriter didn’t know what to do with written. How to rule from clueless situations, tongue-breaking dialogs and contradiction to logic what everything that gives presentation of low-budget film did by amateurs to where was hired Bruce Willis. I don’t see this variant as fantastic.

Obscurantism of film turns to laughing on that. It was a sweet stupidity, which I didn’t want to turn off. A cameraman was the one who absolutely executed duties while a director was almost, but it is not about staging of action scenes. Personages of Jesse Metcalfe and Kelly Greyson run away. Suddenly one bandit grabs Metcalfe for interrogation without attention to Greyson what allows to her to beat attacker. Careless demonstrates in scenes such as clash of rifles between characters to where added sounds of knife stabbing when presumable to have a sharp blade in a hand personage didn’t keep it. A security sees a death of colleague on camera. She screams to supervisor while nobody reacts on the next two computers in a row. These people must be Russians as guards knowing on armed invasion, but they save a peaceful behavior. Is anybody can act? Or all came for paycheck?

Shannen Doherty overacted once, but she executed her role. A good actress, votes for Republicans, a star of Beverly Hills 90210 (of course, I didn’t watch it!). Honestly, I hope that she will all right with cancer treatment. Second one who also mostly had fine acting was Chad Michael Murray played very interesting lead villain whose actions has no basis in conception of his motifs and even with that I can’t understand that with his capability to attack US government he could do same with Russian mafia has his wife in hostages for graciously long time.

A rap sequence with out of reality soldier where passive acting of Metcalfe and Greyson was among moments of their tremendous chemistry corroborates a theory on absence of serious approach to filming. I was confused when Greyson who often does dance movements in conversations says that she is an American and her British accent is cover despite all time she spoke American and tried British in moment of revealing this truth. I was in England at once in 2004 and had trip in Scotland four years ago where didn’t so much heard British. Maybe something changed since that time.

Unfortunately, unintentional (or am I absolutely wrong?) a comedian pace does disappearances in conversations of the last forty minutes. Script isn’t horrible in basis. A highly secured retirement house, which is cover-up of CIA location is nice idea on it, of course, was easy to guess before this twist disclosure. Fortress is not predictable at least. However, I many saw that a fat friend of a main character was going to be killed in beginning, but funny in Fortress that this bunch of bandits was in searching of a “retirement house”. I imagine that they didn’t meet anybody what would abandoned their operation.

Fortress has pleasant aftertaste got by misconceptions (I thought about whiskey and wanted to drink it.). Bruce makes a theatrical face by rise and turn his head to northeast and pronounces a phrase in his manner. Two sequels in schedule.
