Another assignment from the king, but it was tasked to Fingus and Winkle, those two who made a spectacular pair in Gobliins 2. Pierre Gilhodes once claimed that he wanted to make this continuation thirty years ago.
I realized that I had missed these goblins. It was a feeling that we hadn’t met for long, and I wanted to know how they were doing. And I loved to see what had happened with Winkle. However, the screenplay discloses itself as more complex and sophisticated. It involves far beyond the kingdom’s turmoil. I’ve dived into the ambience and the occurring; I could believe in the dangers, as those that were with characters and made me worry in those moments. The game is funny, and I had great laughs from texts and situations, as always, but the developer does it once more and succeeds again in a little adding of darkness. The French gamemaker observes earnest topics as he penetrates into your soul about to where it goes if doesn’t care about the environment. Gobliins6 connects with the other parts, clarifying with chronology, and there the series can consider as saga.
Gilhodes’ fantasy blows your mind, as it was before, in this riveting story and incredibly creative levels. He returns to a magic world. I experienced a classic adventure. I adored the heroes’ reaction on accomplishments. Nevertheless, the developer invents. He brings an individual inventory to each personage. As always in the series, it depends on who interacts with other characters.
The puzzles are logical and almost don’t confuse your mind, despite on craziness. If using a boxing glove against a pickaxe embedded in a rock is of things that’s acceptable, though it is unusual, whereas making a flashlight from salami, throwing gunpowder to dissolve the mist or doing an unnatural solution to attract fireflies in one specific location. None of them made a long thinking, and I bring more – they’re all acceptable. The French gamemaker created a grandiose combination and wonderful challenge in solving the conundrums. It wasn’t one time when I was desperate, and I wished to find the solution (once it was offered by the artist himself), but either it didn’t appear or I rejected it. It satisfies when I completed on my own.
I doesn’t take that I can’t prevent the animation when I wanted to cancel a hero’s walk to a specific object, or I couldn’t save and load during a conversation that can finish after clicking through all phrases.
I had several bugs that didn’t hurt the playthrough, and the English text contains orthographic mistakes time from time, such as everyone saying “thank’s”. I had an opportunity to report that to the developer himself. Fantastically, I had a magnificent exchange with him. Pierre Gilhodes is in the process of fixing them. I have no complaints here because he is a solo developer, who had few testers, and it is understandable that anyone could overlook.
I don’t like that release wasn’t organized. One hour had passed since the launch in one store, but I still didn’t have the game despite I invested in realizing this project. I even said to myself, never give to Pierre Gilhodes money on his crowdfunding campaign. The same was with the funding of Gobliiins5, except I didn’t finance that campaign. Gobliins6 was ready in February 2, but the developer hadn’t prepared for publishing on other platforms, which requires time. It led to more than a week of additional waiting. It was February 10 when the game appeared in that one store. I wrote it to Pierre Gilhodes, and I received an answer in French. It was rude. Especially with my little understanding of this language, in which some words and a phrase itself can have more than one meaning. I spent some time with a translator. Nevertheless, the French gamemaker lettered to me that struggled for days to publish in that digital store, and the developer just learned about that. He was supposed to organize the simultaneous release and be familiar about relations of a man asking money and a person who backs, which is a simple – be respectful and kind. It additionally means that investors must receive first. I explained all that to him and asked about getting game files due to a circumstance. The sixth hour had almost passed. I received the files, as I found out in the morning. Maybe he sent them to me earlier than to other persons. Anyway, I eased with the wish not to invest another time.
The score was composed by independent musician Butterfly Tea. That amazes my mind. Its pieces are epic, a fusion of medieval and Celtic, there are mystery and calling. They make part of the narrative, such as it has an impending grand battle, in which can be calmness. His melodies are unique while, I think, “Duel of the Two Kings” is inspired by Ennio Morricone, which is just a point. Butterfly Tea’s tunes are changing. It doesn’t stick to one stroke of notes. His music contains French, in which he innovates, in combing it with medieval and there the musician composes this country’s techno. It has a classic medieval, but it is original. The score executes this magnificence that in the adventures released in the nineties.
I wildly love Gobliins6 – The Prince Buffoon 2 – The Madmen of the Year 1000 (whose final title makes excellence and characterizes, and I would only keep a first colon instead of a dash), as it is with the previous games. This part made the striking effect that I had from Gobliins 2, and the advanced one. It is a mesmerizing and exciting game, and the rapture has stayed after that.
