Italian government TV channel RAI through division RAI Cinema does efforts to make a mainstream cinema at home at least (but I presume that their scale is international by see their flicks appear in other countries.). Multiple stinginess in budget original action films and once was aim based on popular poliziottesco movie Milano calibro 9 from where was made it’s so-called sequel Calibro 9. A big commercial profit they found in adaptation of pulp fiction comics series Diabolik on which intended trilogy spent more money and it’s first part released in the last December.
I knew on eponymous character by cartoon TV series of zeroes. I had interest back then and did it today what wasn’t impressive, because nobody dies and not even bleeds. Before 80s with G.I. Joe was magnificent time for cartoons such original Jonny Quest with killings and everything what actually willn’t hurt kid’s mind (I know, I mustn’t even think on having kids – therefore I haven’t them.). Initial Diabolik is comics pulp fiction appeared in 1960s from Giussani sisters was with cruelty. One of versions of creation of eponymous personage was inspiration to pulp series books on Fantomas, which was created by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain in 1911.It’s very true that it could had a place if Diabolik fabricates masks of real people and execution scene was identical to the first book on Fantomas. That moment with the minister of justice hadn’t any gag on a mouth was ceasing of watching.
A film is adaptation of the earliest issue when a character was a cold-blooded person who killed an innocent for taking his identity what needed in his criminal activity, which is thievery of jewelry. I was looking for that the third issue of Diabolik and didn’t find it what doesn’t make me to be precise. I got information that film exactly keeps to original material. Perhaps, it explains in showing out of wooden acting. Things, which fit in comics can’t work in a film as same in other forms of interpretation of the story as I also saw in Syberia: The World Before lastly.
I’ve learnt on films of directors Manetti brothers, who did Diabolik adaptation, where I got about watching – don’t do it. Their grindhouse works explain their passion to make a movie basing on pulp fiction, which relevant for type of this literature break a mind dialogs hear in the film. Two directors have sloppy skills for staging drama. The minister of justice walks to Lady Kant and there comes bartender with a glass for her. Suspense without reason and it can be against of savvy understanding. Degree of such bookwriting in careless mistakes. Fictional Clerville, which sounds French and must be French if uses guillotine for capital punishment (Italy cancelled it in 1 January 1948.) has Italian-written signages and intermingled names in this one town: Palmer, Lady Kant, inspector Ginko, Walter Dorian, Elisabeth Gay, Roberto… that Italian diretorre of hotel. It’s usual to don’t think thoroughly when surrounded Diabolik stays at a rope, which at his hand and nobody sees it. Lady Kant accidentally in relationship with minister of justice what will help for release of imprisoned Diabolik.
Valerio Mastandrea was keeping to that he is an inspector Ginko as Alessandro Roja to his minister of justice. I didn’t see Lady Kant and her feelings from Miss Italia Miriam Leone and Luca Marinelli wouldn’t different in straight row of pines. Serena Rossi can demonstrate a personage. Perhaps, her misfortunes due to identical following to original by directors.
I can’t watch how modern flicks show past decades, which impossible to accept if you saw them or, as for me, I saw many films. Clean clothes and shinning surrounding with sometimes of elements of that past turn to unnatural. I accepted Diabolik for carnival to where nowadays people came in outfits of that time. I wasn’t confident it’s 1960s. Manetti brothers wanted, but can’t follow to this decade in directing. It’s out of place and somewhere modern doesn’t recreate that wonderful past.
