It will take time to recall a slasher which doesn’t contain a group of high school or college students whom chasing maniac and eventually a girl with chastity in acts and thoughts will defeat evil who will survive and come in the next part if film makes profitable box-office. These elements have in Thanksgiving, but this didn’t burden me despite I familiar with myriad slashers from sixties to eighties. It’s not because I guessed weeks before who can be a maniac and his motifs by putting right assumption that usually in films a known actor is actual villain.
Lifeless is a reason. Of usual with contemporary flicks. It’s in whole action and scenes assumed to tense. Director Eli Roth was supposed to not move away from absurdity. An exploitation movie shouldn’t be in pieces as ways of kills. Madness of crowd in Black Friday sequence and whole episode of preposterous death of Yulia’s death can’t combine with serious drama, which overly much. I would perceive without any slating in maniac’s neutralization of two people, crawling of Yulia and kidnapping of people in presence of many policemen if it would be fully true to exploitation movie.
It was sacrilegious to make grindhouse in HD. A trailer of sixteen years ago is still unrealized dream, because same kills were greater interpreted there than in the movie. But Authors of Thanksgiving are inventive in methods of slay. Nevertheless, script required rewriting. I would want variant with Michael Biehn in role of sheriff who investigates maniac’s activities due to there can come to originality. Patrick Dempsey is wonderful for role of law enforcer, but his “Oh, my God” doesn’t relate to his personage. Cast does stabile well, but some of them sometimes dropped out from credibility: Nell Verlaque for whom better would be a less complex character, Frank J. Zupancic, Neil Robles who isn’t believable for a man with biceps, Jenna Warren and Addison Rae who surprisingly not disastrous for social network personality (I don’t consider all these people making videos which never have an artistic value as celebrities.). However, having existence abnormal dialogs influenced on broken performance.
If the next Thanksgiving will happen, what is quite probable, I’ll pass it’s celebration.
