It’s a moment for reason on all coming releases in films, books and games after this year. I take this scale because there are not much. And I’ll do that alongside with observation on current state of variable art.
A book.
I have a single one in writing. A composer of Halo series, Marty O’Donnell, has almost completed with doing a book about his experience in the gaming industry. On the one hand, it can be a fascinating because the maestro, in his interviews, speaks a record straight about his work in Bungie by disclosing incredible inside stories and people through which he shows an essence of Microsoft. On the other hand is my relation to Halo series and Bungie. Marty O’Donnell considers his period working there as Golden Age in gaming whereas in my vision their games where among those which caused Silver Age. Additionally, it is already not a revelation what Microsoft is. Do I need a recognition of more vices of this enterprise? I searched for many years a book DisneyWar, which describes a period from eighties till present (the year 2005 on that moment). Eventually, I could do it by committing an illegal downloading. I began to read… and I couldn’t. No doubt, I would get tantalizing facts (as one of them I had) but inner conflicts between shapeless corporate men don’t grab me. I knew common facts and I didn’t need a detailing as I understood. I get an excitement from reading stories of artistic struggles. Marty O’Donnell is a great teller and he is sane in what’s going in politics, which makes an additional attraction, but, perhaps, it will unlikely.
Films.
I’m almost confident that all anticipating flicks won’t come in 2025. I don’t include Protector and The Vincent Price Legacy because they have releases on festivals in this year. Sad, because I would move to Busan for see Adrian Grunberg’s movie but I can’t because I forced to keep my cover. While presentation of documentary about a horror icon will in Germany and it will on local language, which mine knowledge of it was lost through generations and I remember only few words, which most of them are swears. Anyway:
- Clint Eastwood is known for his short period productions while still no information on his new project.
- Maybe, I’ll dare to watch Run by Uwe Boll who said it will come in November everywhere. He planned to release this film before Citizen Vigilante. Logically, an anticipating movie won’t come a week after.
- Best of the Best 5: Honor the Brave lives as I recognized through Phillip Rhee’s informing in social network. He invites on gathering in Vegas in October 12, which will include a film series cast, and he promises to talk about planning project. I don’t like Vegas and I haven’t favor to Eric Roberts. Therefore, I’ll stay home and drink bourbon by relying that there will courage men who will visit and tell or I’ll see a footage.
- I can’t yet consider that Hellfire won’t arrive in 2025 because it can still happen from October to December but whatever. Why this movie stays unreleased? It seems that everyone has forgotten about it.
Games.
Ken Williams made an anticipated statement about his future involvement in gaming. He tends that likely nothing what was more in belief. I won’t be frustrated if he will keep to that eventually. Why he should reject a retirement? I can’t stand that last word and go bonkers but it works for some people. Nevertheless, a legendary CEO of Sierra On-Line through his social network presence discloses what he will do if returns to development. He is charmed by possibility of AI, which makes his curiosity to make a next game. He wants through this technology to put away a middleman in developing. I approve AI for using in technical part. However, Ken Williams isn’t against idea and he thinks on inclusion of AI-made dialogs, which always new in every playthrough and he wants to use it in creation of music because likes results. Artificial intelligence can’t write a good script. I revealed that it hasn’t a wide imagination. I resumed in writing of novella lately and I give it for checking. A machine makes simple assumptions in further development of my fiction. Furthermore, it can’t write powerful dialogs, only characterless phrases as it only a non-human does. I surprised to Ken Williams, who is a wise man, but he trusts to AI in asking questions and doesn’t check with facts, because it wasn’t once when I realized it wasn’t right with facts and there were moments when an answer was a word mess by giving an another location or a name for examples. I had my first cooking experience in Germany twenty years ago. It was in some camp. I’ve got a stick with a dough on it. I put that on fire. I looked how it turned into a bakery piece. I took away and tasted an own made bun. It excited me because I did it by myself. Whatever Ken Williams is going to do (if it will so), I will skip this for now.
A new update on the development of Gobliins6, which was on August 12, makes me assume Pierre Gilhodes willn’t complete it to Christmas. For four months, he refined the first levels and only now he involves in full work on the last two stages. Level 15 by his counts will take a month or two. Meanwhile, a translation to English in early whereas no words on testers. Certainly, he shouldn’t hurry because deadline is one of disgusting things in art. It distracts and can push you to haste and that’s not right. The art asks time because it can bring to greater results. I still in same passionate anticipation to Gobliins6: The Prince Buffon 2 – The Year 1000 Fools as well as to Goblins7 and Woodfruff and Schnibble 2.
I was magnetized by games where you make choices and deal with multiple factions. But I had reasons to lose in it. I don’t believe ExeKiller will change in that mind. Paradark Studio is active in social networks by posting minimal details in screenshots and video diaries which disclose game’s features. But a studio still doesn’t make an update with release date. It becomes suspicious and I point to that Null Games became silent everywhere. Their site changed and there only a head page now which contains a company’s logo and a phrase “Null will return” under it. The publisher stopped to be active in all social networks. Their last posting was in May 22. Not a good time if your marketing campaign wants to release an electronic composition in promised period.
I didn’t notice a proclamation of Alkahest and recognized about it many months later. Either I ignored while scrolling or it wasn’t published immediately on the site, as it usually happens on Gematsu due to shortcoming of program, and I missed after coming of the next news. But I discovered this project and it intrigued me. A conception screams association with Dark Messiah of Might and Magic through first-person sword fighting and interaction with objects. Developers don’t cover that inspiration to where they also add Dishonored and The Witcher. Nevertheless, Alkahest’s conception demonstrates individuality and promises inventiveness in gameplay. Among these features is using alchemy instead of magic. That has never been used before. Make potions, which bring variable effects as one of them, as video shows, can turn a metal into rusty piece and make it to disappear. I find attraction to alchemy because it has a mystery (though history says it’s not so).
I have an enthusiasm to a script because it’s conception is original. A protagonist isn’t chosen and anything. He comes from a “petty lord” family with no name. A main personage must make it in time of turmoil between three factions.
I approve developer’s approach in not create a giant open-world in which random NPCs give generic quests.
Gamemakers claim they wished that somebody created such game but nobody realized it and they decided to make it. A studio’s name is Push On. They received investment from an unnamed source in 2023, which gave beginning to Alkahest. Their site informs that team is thirty-eight experienced men which were involved in different scale productions without calling them and an office locates in Cyprus. Too much of unsaid. However, one can already guess that staff of Push On originates from Muscovy because Cyprus is a tax heaven that is most used by citizens of Muscovy-speaking states and Ukraine. Their publisher HypeTrain Digital, which Push On discovered few months ago, situates on a same island and found information on personnel reveals that their members are from aforementioned place.
Push On promises a lot of information in summer but their truth was in just releasing a recut of their only one video with a terrible voice over. I still in attention because I want to see gameplay though I don’t trust to these Muscovy people (yeah, it shouldn’t be a surprise) and that’s because about games themselves. Personally to this electronic compositions, sword fights aren’t perfect in elaboration and I don’t like that Push On took idea with worms from Dune in which they’re not first.
