Tokaji Furmint (Grand Tokaj)

I still had an inner hope that I’ll discover a good Hungarian wine, especially when I’ve got an opportunity to taste a grape beverage with country’s defining and the most planted grape there Furmint. Unfortunately, that single choice was the bottle harvested in 2023 and with a screw cap.

Tokaji Furmint from Grand Tokaj contains 12,5%. I opened it, and drink released a smell of fresh grapes. A familiar feeling with a previous Hungarian wine Balatoni Lebedes Merlot-Cabernet. I poured this dry wine into a glass. The first sip was getting a bitterness. But dealing with Stunning Italian Lady taught me PATIENCE! And, God, I had it for the wine. The bitterness became less, but drink still wasn’t wonderful. I waited more and that negative element has gone. It was drinkable, but Tokaji Furmint doesn’t disclose anything characterizing. Holding it in the mouth longer pinches you in the early minutes, later the experience turns to having acidity. Swallowing on place makes that unlovable thing only in assuming repercussion. It’s drinking without getting an expression. Aftertaste leaves in good high feelings. I only understood that is not the finest Furmint, and I must ride to Hungary for possible it’s finding.
