Cold War II. The Latin America Remapping.

The right wing returned to Latin America. However, some results of these election demonstrate how these countries are divided into two halves in choosing between order and imbalance.

Columbia was in managing of the drug-addicted Gustavo Petro who condemned the arrest of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. He told the US president that would fight back if American army came because DEA suspected that man of drug trafficking as well. The last general election saved the ruling communistic Historic Pact in parliament (it gained additional 10 chairs to 26), but the other was done in choosing the president. Akin to Trump, the strong right Abelardo de la Espriela defeated Ivan Cepeda, who represented Historic Pact (49.66% to 48.70%). The victorious president for the right to keep arms, he disrespects the United Nations and to restore relationship with Israel. But, foremost, he stopped to negotiate with guerilla groups and intensified the fight against them. His rival was against the arrest of Nicolas Maduro and he had an unstoppable, passionate love and praise toward Cuba. The majority of Columbians began to choose the commonsense in this corrupted country, finally.

Amazingly that bright mind appeared in Bolivia one year ago. Before that, the country’s citizens had favor to wishing to be a dictator Evo Morales and after the turmoil with that, they still chose a man from his party, Luis Acre. But now, most of Bolivians made a drastically opposite decision by electing Rodrigo Paz (54.96%) from the Christian Democratic Party. His opponent was also a right wing candidate, Jorge Quiroga (45.04%). Paz openly said that Bolivia represents democracy, whereas Venezuela is “the complete opposite”. Quiroga was harsher by calling Maduro a “head of a mafia criminal conglomerate” and his army and Venezuelans “complicit in a drug cartel”. He would have been better because Quiroga was for cancelation of the lithium and hydrocarbon contracts with Han Empire and Muscovy, while Paz decided to keep deals, though his policy became toward the USA.

It took weeks to finish counting the votes in the last presidential election in Peru. After four attempts since 2011, Keiko Fujimori was voted as a leader of the country. 50.13% chose her against 49.87% for Roberto Sanchez who rejected to call Maduro a dictator and his rule a dictatorship. Maybe I do not sympathize to winner for the approval of her father’s crimes in time of his presidency, but she praised the arrest of the Venezuelan usurper and visited El Salvador to consult about fighting crime.

On July 31, 2025, Nuevas Ideas, the dominating party of El Salvador, succeeded in passing a proposal on unlimited quantity of presidential terms. Majority people love Nayib Bukele and his policy, but that question can be answered only through a referendum because their act wasn’t democratic. Individually, I support limitations of times for any political post because people are not responsible.

Early this year, in February, Donald Trump began his activity against Cuba in a fuel blockade that made a plight stance of the state much worse. An electricity shutdown became a commonplace there. It was strange that this wasn’t committed decades ago, given that the island is controlled by a despotic regime. Ecuador supported the efforts by expelling Cuban ambassador on March 4.

Alas, most Brazilians were for Lula da Silva (51.79%) in opposite to Flavio Bolsonaro (48.21%) in the second round (the result of the first round was 47.03 for Bolsonaro and 45.16% for da Silva). In the parliament choosing, Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party received 121 seats (22 more in comparison with a previous time) to 88 of Silva’s Brazil of Hope Federation (7 more against than in the 2022 election). Nevertheless, political persecution against right wing politicians will continue. This made Flavio Bolsonaro to escape to the United States of America before his potential arrest.

The arrest of Nicolas Maduro and his wife was welcomed by people who despise authoritarian regimes and drug trafficking. The condemnation was from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and pro-Muscovy Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was chosen in 2023. It is woeful that open communist sympathies resumed in the latter country. In their last general election to parliament were approval of Smer (23% of voters gave 42 chairs), and its splintered Hlas became third (14.7%, or 27 places). However, Slovaks are capable of rejecting the vile.

It never had matter in evil Serbia. Vojislav Kostunica beat Slobodan Milosevic and Tomislav Nikolic on the ruins of Yugoslavia in 2000. None of them was any different. Kostunica was expressing disdain toward America and European Union, and talked many times that Kosovo is part of Serbia. The protests that occurred in Serbia recently prompted a snap election. I couldn’t believe that removal of Vucic government could make change. The goal of their candidates was to fight corruption and crimes on their land. But reading about these people discloses that one was a soldier on a villainous side in Kosovo War and the other called Kosovo a “temporary occupied territory” and for maintaining a tight relationship with a fallen empire. Their party officially claimed that against sanctions there. Additionally, it expressed opposition to Israeli policy and pledged the aid support to Arabs on Israeli land. Serbia never wanted to be an EU member, it wished what was before.

US teacher Stephen Hubbard was four years in Muscovian captivity. He returned home without an exchange. Trump’s reciprocal action was to freeze the imposition of another sanctions.
