When I was watching Gargoyles.

This show was aside from me in nineties. I surprisingly knew on it’s existence few years ago by clicking on TV. I didn’t stop for watching. One-two years later I decided to do it from beginning respectively.

I many times thought that masterful hand drawing of animators such from Disney would involve themselves into adult project. I wish it stronger when I watch scenes such as Frollo signing “Hellfire” in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Disney turned multiple earnest books into cartoons for very young auditorium. Gargoyles was going to be a comedian show intentionally, but it changed in process and eventually that became a unique TV series in nineties.

Gargoyles are monstrous for humans beings from tenth century whose goal is protect castle. Stone statues at day and living creatures at night. Circumstances will put on them spell from which they will wake up thousand years later.

The first season of Gargoyles, which was broadcasted from 1994 to 1995, has intricate plots, serious topics and sophisticated characters. It has little flows in scripts, but forgave these things. I empathized to charming pack and to stunning Elisa Maza who is an incredible friend, a supporter and she helps gargoyles to adapt in the contemporary world.

Every episode shows hyping plot and action when the most craven thing was for me in disclosure of background of one or many personages. I was regretful to Demona who changed in times. Her personality between centuries has magnificent comparison in “Long Way to Morning”.

The series shows death what was part of that period after eighties in which nobody died and cartoon shows took some dark. Gargoyles was the most audacious in that and, moreover to amazement, it was under Disney’s logo. Gargoyles has acts of violence, which graphic image usually don’t demonstrate. In one episode, gargoyle Broadway accidently shots Elisa and there can see her bleeding. Disney didn’t show this episode in many countries to where include the United States of America. It appeared on DVD after years.

As it was back then, this show has an exciting soundtrack whose main theme is memorable. However, it’s dark score frequent put sometimes in inappropriate places.

The second season added mesmerizing voiceover of Goliath to intro (divine Keith David did it.). Unfortunately, first episode indicated me to thought that show degrades in screenplays plot. A lot of unsophisticated with characters. Familiar villains comes with plan, which fails and they escape while they could be caught. Some nuances, which outside of logic, comes. Pardon of villainous Fox, because she rejected to join in prison break while she got term for putting gun to person’s head. It’s very likely that I could forgave Doctor Sevarius who faked own death by accident. I moved to later episodes for see that seriousness isn’t exist anymore and far-fetching of drama on high. Many survivals after deadly strike. A lot villains will come to friendship with gargoyles what is tiring and hardly logical after multiple times intentions of bad guys to kill gargoyles. And, of course, addition of variety in which New York, which took many episodes, was changed on movement around the world. Gargoyles is show with splendid potential and I was exciting on look on enriching world, but it’s a sadly buried potential.
