Review derails. Dovbush – 16 minutes.

A movie based on opryshki leader Oleksa Dovbush could have been made hyping if do it serious as Gettysburg and no doubt it can turn into entertainment as Red Cliff duology and Windtalkers. That became imitation of worst, which in contemporary Hollywood. Dovbush was associative with flicks such as The Three Musketeers by Paul W.S. Anderson and with hopeless director.

Destruction from when flick begins. Voiceover narrating is from a man who can’t be into in reading text, which for pathos appearance of film’s title. Any bum There could be hired for this job, because no difference. Talentless is everywhere. It was done with text after narrating, which you forced to read fast. A combat between Polish army and Ukrainian resistance forces corroborate pathos stance as it in movies of Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich. Only nobody on own place. Fight choreography is inefficiently elaborated. Filming of it is mess by jumping to other shots in other places. A lot passivity from performers and extra of whom some of them were lost in don’t knowing on what to do. There will almost no capability for acting as I will see for sixteen minutes. Flop with fight scene was due to them and director who can’t handle with not so big scale. A cinematographer’s work made unpleasant feeling for stomach with spinning of camera, turbidity of image and aforementioned jumps in shots. Pathos was put in forward of logic when one Ukrainian resistant fighter runs with grenade on bunch of enemies with rifles. Other Ukrainian kills adversary by sword though hostile uses block of own weapon, but hit of blade caused him to fall dead. These group of armed Polish soldiers are all together take attention on killing of one person among lot of attackers and they will leave position though no threat for them and what will free way for wounded Ukraine independence fighter who will stand up on his feet for climb up on point and install flag. Some leader in Polish army will order to attack by seeing that, but nothing will occur and Polish army will disappear despite on slaying of almost all their adversaries and no sign of losing, which never was.

Personages behave outside of demonstration period. They do contemporary methods of killing and kissing isn’t XVIIIth century. Scene of building of relationship between personages in significant show off as pathos meeting of two characters who will friends through one of them gifts ring to other and protagonist’s flashback of incident with Polish soldiers in his village will with presence of personage who will represent as leader of Polish oppressors aka film’s main villain. One of lifeless characters was grabbed by Polish soldiers and he loses conscience by getting kick from rifle’s butt. Director Oles’ Sanin prefers Hollywood patterns.

Agata Buzek whose acting is only stays on all right despite she behaves as typical villain. She oozes scenery of evil leader by crafty facial expressions and noticeable movements. She is in savoring of her villain nature, her Count Yablonska isn’t perceive for real person.

I ended on neverending senselessly made staging of action in contemporary approach. Gang of criminals surround a little group of carriages. One coachman with no became familiar lack of life from it’s performer pulls out a pistol in front of many bandits who don’t react and does it near of their leader who stays back to him. The last does sudden (expected – editor’s correction.) turn around and disarms attacker. I could halt earlier.
